Welcome to Mr. Brown's    Kindergarten Webpage!

          December News!

Here's what we'll be doing in Mr. Brown's Class in December!

ReadingWe are continuing our study of individual letters.  With each letter, the children will enjoy songs, poems, chants,  puppets, books and other activities focused on the letter of the week. They will learn to identify the letter, produce it's sound and write it properly using writing lines.  We will be learning to count the syllables in words this month.  The children have learned the sight words the, and, see, go, like, can, we, will, in, is, and this.  Encourage your child to identify these words in books when you read to them.

Math We are continuing to learn about measurement and estimation.  We will begin learning about temperature.  We will also learn about the days of the week.

Theme Five Senses, Christmas, and Reindeer.

Handwriting The kindergartners will learn how to write their first name "the school way, " (i.e. first letter capital, rest lowercase).  We are also continuing to practice writing the letters that we have learned that week.  We have recently begun to write in our journals.  We are learning to create new sentences using the words we have learned (I can see the ... & We will go to the ... etc ...).

Things to Remember: We will be dismissing at 1:43 on Friday, December 2.
