Kindergarten Happenings
November News! Reading: We will continue our study of individual letters. With each letter, the children will enjoy songs, poems, chants, books and other activities focused on the letter of the week. They will learn to identify the letter, produce it's sound and write it properly using writing lines. We will be learning to count the syllables in words this month. The children have learned the popcorn words: and, is, go, the, see, I, can, my, with and love. Encourage your child to identify these words in books.
Math: This month we will be working on measurement. We will begin by discussing small, medium and big. Then we will start using various items to measure things in the classroom. Finally, we will be using simple rulers to measure items. We will be also working on numbers 10-20 and counting to 50.Theme (Social Studies & Science): This month we are learning about the food groups and nutrition. Then we will be learning about Thanksgiving and Native Americans.
Handwriting: We are continuing to work on writing our letters the correct way on writing lines. We are starting to write words and sentences using our "kindergarten writing".
