Build an Orchestra

Objective: 2.2.5 Describe the characteristics of Timbre.
Great music from around the world is played by orchestras. Hearing music played by orchestras can make your imagination soar!

 

Task
You have been asked to provide posters for the Alma Schrader Open House that show what you have been studying.  You have decided to created a poster of an orchestra.  

Process
  • Go to Hooked on Symphonics site and look and listen to several instruments in each of the orchestra families.  There are four families in an orchestra:
                    Strings
                    Woodwinds
                     Brass
                     Percussion
  • Choose at least two instruments in each family to be in your orchestra. For "Expert Level choose 3-4 instruments in each family.
  • Print a picture of each instrument you have chosen.
                              
                              
                          
  • Complete the following graph:  Include at least 2 instruments in each family.  For "Expert Level", include 3-4 instruments in each family.

  • Make a poster of an orchestra with your pictures.  The pictures should be grouped in their families with each family labeled.
