Lots of Learning
Going On

We are learning LOTS
of new things!

Lots of learning is going on in our classroom these days.

Reading/Writing: We have been breaking codes in our new story - what fun.  We are working in our reading groups and corners four times a week.  Ask your child to tell you about some of the corner activities they have done.  We are working on improving our writing skills to write interesting five sentence paragraphs.
Math:  MONEY!!  We just completed learning coins, what they are worth and how to add them together up to $1.00.  This is an extremely important life skill for our students to learn, so your help is appreciated.
Science:  We have learned about rocks and soil.  Now we are learning about fossils and dinosaurs.  In conjunction with Beezus & Ramona we are also learning about sound.
Social Studies:  We will be learning more about Pakistan. Plus we are having Rotary Club members coming in to talk to us about their careers as they support us in raising pennies for Pennies for Peace.

Blanchard Reads:
Beezus & Ramona

We hope your family is enjoying the story of "Beezus & Ramona" together.  Some of the activities should be lots of fun to do together.  Our class are working on some fun activities here at school, so ask your child what they are doing with this story at school.   Don't forget to check the Blanchard web page for a web page that offers you lots of websites and activities for "Beezus & Ramona."

Dress Up Day Friday the 20th for our
Blanchard Community Readers

Parent/Teacher Conferences

We had 100% participation!!  What excellent parent support!!  This just makes teaching your children that much easier when we work together.  Thank you!!

In fact, the entire school had 100% participation - How exciting to have such involved parents at Blanchard!!

Accelerated Reading Program

Wow!!  100% of our class made their AR goals for 1st quarter, getting 100% of their goal and at least 80% correct in accuracy.  We are all on track to have 100% of our students  this quarter.  Yea!!  Watch for those T.O.P.S. reports coming home several times a week, or check in at Home Connect at the website I provided you at conference.
