The CHS Speech and Debate Team competes in interscholastic competition between October and February and moves on to District Tournament competition in March and the State Tournament competition in April.  The Tigers have enjoyed multiple District champions and at least one All-State performer every year since 1999.

Regular season competitive events include Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Original Oratory, Radio Speaking, Prose Reading, Poetry Reading, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Duet Acting.

At Crystal City/Fox, a sparse team of six Tigers won nine trophies, if one counts the

FIRST PLACE SWEEPSTAKES AWARD.  The haul included two first-place trophies for

Lessley Dennington (in Prose Reading and HI,) two trophies for Tony Guidos (first in LD

and third in Extemp,) a second place Duet finish for Jillian Bowers and Austin Wicker

(who lost a tie-breaker for first,) and thirds for Cassidy Brown and Brandon Wells

(Poetry and Prose, respectively.)
