Runners Are Not Born They Are Made!

Cross Country is a fall sport for Cape Central High School. The runners seem to have a good time with each other and do many activities besides running itself. We have spaghetti dinners Friday nights before race days to load up on carbs, summer camps, winter and summer running, and other fun activities during the season. The distance of a high cross country race is a 5k or 3.1 miles.

2010 Season Summary

The 2010 cross country team had another good year.  Overall the program had 5 first place team finishes, 7 seconds, and 4 thirds.

The junior high girls placed 2^nd in two races and 3^rd in one other.  Maddie McDonald achieved Junior High All Conference honors.  The junior high boys team placed 2^nd in one race.  Emmanuel Miranda, Clayton Monia, and Reed Dickson earned Junior High All Conference recognition.

The junior varsity girls placed 3^rd in the Conference.  Kendra Kelch earned J. V. All Conference honors.  The junior varsity boys won the Conference Championship for the second consecutive year led by individual Conference Champion John Ayuso.  Other

J. V. All Conference athletes were Jawuan Howard, Tony Guidos, Lane Staton and Austin Pittman.  

The girls varsity placed in the top three teams at three different races including 1^st at the Anna-Jonesboro Invitational and 3^nd at the Conference Championships.  The girls placed 5^th at Districts. The varsity boys team placed in the top two teams at six different races.  This included first in the Senior Division at the Jackson Invitational, first at the Cape Invitational, and first at the Notre Dame Invitational.  They also repeated as the Conference Champions, placed 2^nd in the District, and 6^th at Sectionals.  Individually on the varsity level, the team had 7 All Conference, 3 All District, 2 All Sectional athletes, and 1 All State athlete.  The breakdown of varsity individual accomplishments is as follows:
