1.  Look the part; wear baseball pants, jersey (tucked in), and hat (worn correctly).

2.  Wear a jersey from the team you have played on – if possible, with your name on the back

3.  Be the first to volunteer to help get equipment out or put away.

4.  Hustle to every station or drill; never jog lackadaisically anywhere.

5.  Always pay attention and ask questions if needed.

6.  Respond to coaches with respect; use “yes sir,” or “no sir.”

7.  Don’t be afraid to get dirty; Laying out for balls or diving to make a play impresses coaches.

8.  Attend any camps that the high school coach puts on.

9.  Be a great bunter – work at it.

10.  Have all your paperwork done on time; physical, insurance, forms, etc.

11.  Be early to all workouts or tryouts.

12.  Make sure you have good grades; coaches do check grades.

13.  Don’t miss a workout or practice.  If you have an emergency and are unable to attend, make sure and call your coach ahead of time and not after the fact.

14.  Take care of your equipment; don’t leave your gear lying around.

15.  Be coach able; have a great attitude.

16.  Study the history of the game and respect the game.

17.  Be a great student; listen and learn.

18.  With very few exceptions, your parents do not know more than your coach.

19.  Body language is very important; don’t throw equipment, sag your shoulders, shake your head, etc.

20.  When you stretch and warm-up, do not go through the motions.  Work at it and warm your body up for the day’s activities.

21.  Be realistic about you ability, but never give up the pursuit of “the dream.”
