Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures Many of our students are brought to school by private transportation. In order to assure the safety of our students, we have some guidelines that we follow for student drop-off and pick-up. When bringing children to school in the morning, please pull the vehicle to the front of the parking lot near the front entrance of the building. There, safety patrol students will meet the car, open the door, and help the transported students get to the sidewalk safely. We ask that the adults remain in the vehicle in order to allow the drop-off to occur quickly and safely. Like the morning drop-off, the afternoon pick-up also has some procedures. When the students are dismissed from school, the car riders will assemble along the sidewalk in front of the building. The students are not allowed to leave the sidewalk without assistance from either a safety patrol student or a teacher. To assist in this, we ask that the adults remain in the vehicle throughout the entire process. When the vehicle approaches the front of Clippard School, students will be assisted into the car. In order to allow other vehicles to reach the front of the building for picking up other students, we ask the adults to please move the vehicle forward immediately after the students are safely inside. Clippard parents are welcome to visit our school at any time. It is necessary, however, that the car riders have a car waiting for them at the sidewalk when school is dismissed. If you are picking up students after spending time in the building, please go to the vehicle at 3:00 p.m. in order to be ready for the pick-up at the appropriate time. If you are coming to Clippard to pick-up students in the afternoon, please stay inside the vehicle so that the traffic can flow smoothly. Your child will be escorted to you when your vehicle is at the front of the building. For all of us at Clippard, the safety of the students must come first! Thank you for your assistance in this important matter. |

The Cape Girardeau Public School District has implemented a supplemental reading program known as Accelerated Reader. All of the elementary buildings are currently using this program. Accelerated Reader is a computer based program which allows each student to test his/her reading abilities in order to be placed at the correct reading level. The student is then able to select books in the proper reading level and read for comprehension at his/her own reading rate. After completing a book, the student takes a quiz found on the computer in the Accelerated Reading Program, which is immediately scored by the computer. This allows students to practice reading comprehension skills with immediate feedback. It also allows teachers to monitor individual reading skills on a consistent basis. At the current time, parents can learn which Accelerated Reading quizzes are currently owned by Clippard Elementary School by going to the Renaissance Learning web page at www.renlearn.com . Any quiz found on their web page is a quiz students can access from school. Please take part in your child's education by encouraging your child to read. The more a child reads, the better a child reads! |

The teachers at Clippard Elementary School are dedicated to the education of all students. In order for a child to truly function well within the classroom setting, it is important that he/she have the necessary tools. For that purpose, the teachers have made a list of necessary supplies for each grade level. Please review the list, and check with your child periodically throughout the year to see if replacements are needed. If you need assistance with these supplies, please let Mrs. Herbst know. | Clippard Elementary School invites you to take part in your child's education. Studies show that students do better in school when parents take an active role in the students' education. In order to allow parents to participate with us while keeping the children safe, it is our policy that the parents need to check in at the office and wear a "visitor" badge while on the property. This allows teachers to easily identify those who should be present while not allowing strangers to be among the students. Please sign out when leaving the premises. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with this easy step that helps to keep all the students safe. |
